Why go: Pirates Voyage stages a full pirate battle in a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon while you work through a four-course meal, with acrobats overhead, mermaids in the water, and a sea lion named Salty in the middle of it.

About Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

Pirates Voyage is a Dolly Parton production, run by the same company behind Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and it does not use a conventional stage. The show is built around a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon holding two full-sized pirate ships, and most of what happens over the course of the evening happens on, above, or in that water.

The story is a rivalry. Blackbeard and his quartermaster Calico Jack lead the Crimson Crew and the Sapphire Crew in a contest for Davy Jones’ sunken treasure, and your seat assigns you to one side for the night. Sword fights break out on deck, acrobats swing between masts, cannons fire, mermaids perform before diving out of sight, and live animals including Salty the sea lion and a cast of tropical birds work into the action.

A separate segment called the South Pacific Celebration changes the tone completely, trading the pirate battle for a luau of towering tikis, island drumming, and fire dancing. The main show runs roughly 90 minutes from opening to curtain.

Getting to Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

Pirates Voyage sits directly on the Parkway in the middle of Pigeon Forge, close to hotels, restaurants, and the rest of the strip. Most out of town visitors reach it by taking Interstate 40 to exit 407, then following US 441 south through Sevierville and into Pigeon Forge. The building is hard to miss from the road.

On-site parking is available with lots close to the entrance, and staff direct arriving traffic, so there is no need to hunt for a public garage. Parkway traffic slows to a crawl during peak season and in the hour before evening showtimes, so budget more driving time than the mileage suggests.

Why Choose Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

Pigeon Forge has more dinner shows than almost any town its size, so the useful question is not whether to see one but which one to pick. Pirates Voyage separates itself on the physical scale of what it stages and on how much of the production takes place in and above water.

  • Water changes the format. The lagoon is deep enough for divers, sinking ships, and underwater exits, which is not something a dry stage can imitate.
  • Live animals share the billing. Sea lions, tropical birds, and dogs perform alongside the human cast, which tends to hold younger kids through the slower stretches.
  • Two productions in one ticket. The South Pacific Celebration has its own costumes, music, and fire work, so it plays as a second show rather than filler between battles.
  • Dinner is included, not upsold. Every ticket covers the four-course meal and unlimited soft drinks, so what you book is close to what you actually spend.
  • Weather never cancels it. The arena is fully indoor and climate controlled, which makes this a dependable fallback when a rained out afternoon wrecks your plans.
  • Special diets are handled in advance. Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan meals can be requested during checkout rather than negotiated at the table.

Must Do

The show itself follows a fixed running order, but several parts of an evening here are optional or easy to miss entirely if you turn up at the last minute.

  • The Crimson and Sapphire Battle. The centerpiece, fought across both ships and the water between them with sword work, cannon fire, and aerial stunts.
  • The South Pacific Celebration. An island segment with tikis, heavy percussion, and fire dancing that lands as the visual high point for a lot of guests.
  • Salty and the Animal Encounter. Salty the sea lion swims in an outdoor habitat you can watch before going inside, and a pre-purchased Animal Encounter add-on gets you close to him and the other animal ambassadors.
  • Join the Crew. An add-on makeover with pirate or mermaid face makeup and accessories, sold on-site in limited quantities, so early arrival matters if a kid has their heart set on it.
  • The Four-Course Feast. Buccaneer Biscuit and Voyager Creamy Vegetable Soup to start, then Cracklin’ Pan-Fried Chicken, Swashbucklin’ Sugar-Cured Ham, corn on the cob, and Matey’s Mac ‘n’ Cheese, finishing with either Apple O’ Me Eye Pie or Chocolate Coconut Cake.
  • Pirates After Dark. The pre-show bar pours themed drinks and serves snacks, and the Pirates Treasure gift shop is worth a walk through while you wait for doors.

What to Expect

Most of the friction at a dinner show comes down to timing and to rules people only learn at the door. A few things are worth sorting out before you go.

  • Child tickets and lap seating. Child tickets cover kids up to age 9. Children 2 and under are free if they sit on an adult’s lap and share that adult’s meal, and a high chair requires a purchased child ticket.
  • Strollers stay outside. Car seats, carriers, and strollers are not permitted inside the theater.
  • Doors open one hour before showtime, which is also when ticket pickup starts. VIP Admission asks you to arrive 90 minutes ahead for check-in and the cast meet and greet.
  • Showtimes move with the season and busy weekends sell out, so book ahead and confirm your time rather than assuming a standard evening slot.
  • Every guest passes through a scanner at entry and bags are subject to search. There is no size restriction on bags, but traveling light speeds up the line.
  • There is no dress code beyond shirts and shoes, and plenty of guests turn up in full pirate gear.
  • The production uses pyrotechnics, dramatic lighting, loud sound, and live animals throughout. Worth weighing in advance if anyone in your group has allergies, sensory sensitivities, or a medical condition affected by any of that.
  • A military rate is offered but cannot be booked online. Call the box office directly to use it.
  • Seating tier affects your view. Value seats sit at an angle near the ends of the arena, while Regular seats are closer and more central within the same sections.
