Why go: Eight movie quality escape rooms sit under one roof at The Island, each a 60 minute mission with unlimited hints and a game guide watching from the other side of the camera, which means a first timer group can actually finish one.
Marc’s Take: I took my wife and her two sisters for their birthdays (twins born one day before the older sister’s first birthday!). The room was professionally built and was challenging. Although, we had a co-participant who previously escaped, and we couldn’t keep him quiet. The folks monitoring the room saw our frustration and gave us free tickets for another room. I highly recommend The Escape Game.
About The Escape Game Pigeon Forge
The Escape Game is a national escape room company, and the Pigeon Forge location is one of its full scale builds. The premise is standard for the category: your group is locked into a themed set for 60 minutes and has to work through layered puzzles, hidden compartments, and physical mechanisms to complete a mission before the clock runs out. What separates the venue is the production value behind the sets.
The company’s design team also builds custom branded experiences for Disney, Nickelodeon, Amazon, and Hulu, and that pedigree shows up in the rooms. Sets run multiple rooms deep rather than a single decorated box, props are built rather than bought, and the reveals are staged like film beats. A room does not simply hand you a padlock and a riddle.
Eight distinct adventures run at this location: Ruins: Forbidden Treasure, Gold Rush, Prison Break, The Heist, Classified, Cosmic Crisis, The Depths, and Timeliner: Train Through Time. Difficulty is graded across the lineup, so a group can pick a lighter entry point or go straight at the hardest one.
Every game runs with a game guide monitoring by camera and audio. Hints are unlimited and delivered in character, which keeps a stuck team moving instead of burning ten minutes on a single lock. Rooms hold up to eight players.

Getting to The Escape Game Pigeon Forge
The Escape Game occupies Suite 9139 inside The Island in Pigeon Forge, the walkable entertainment complex off Teaster Lane with the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, the fountain show, and a full ring of shops and restaurants. From the Parkway, turn onto Teaster Lane and follow signage into the complex; the venue recommends parking in the lot off Teaster Lane rather than circling the front. Parking at The Island is free but fills fast on summer evenings and holiday weekends, so budget walking time from the far lots. Once you are inside the complex the storefront is on the ground level of the retail ring, and Dollywood is roughly three and a half miles away if you are stacking a day.
Why Choose The Escape Game Pigeon Forge
Pigeon Forge has close to a dozen escape room operators, and most run three or four rooms out of a strip center suite. The case for this one comes down to scale and the way the games are run.
- Eight rooms in one building. A group that escapes and wants to go again does not have to drive across town, and repeat visitors have years of material here.
- Sets built by a studio grade team. The same designers produce branded games for major entertainment companies, and the rooms are multi-space builds rather than one dressed room.
- Unlimited hints, delivered in character. The clue system is designed to prevent a dead stall, which changes the experience for families and first timers who would otherwise stare at one puzzle until time expired.
- Graded difficulty across the lineup. Rooms range from approachable to genuinely hard, so you can match the game to how experienced your group actually is.
- Inside The Island. The location folds into an evening already happening, with dinner, the wheel, and the fountain show a short walk from the door.
- A wide daily operating window. Slots run from morning into the late evening, which is unusual in a market where most escape rooms close by dinner.
Must Do
All eight rooms are worth playing, but they are not interchangeable. These are the ones worth targeting depending on what your group wants out of the hour.
- Ruins: Forbidden Treasure. The adventure archaeology room, heavy on hidden mechanisms and temple set pieces. A common first pick for groups new to escape rooms.
- The Heist. A gallery robbery built around recovering a stolen painting, with the sequencing and timing pressure the genre is named for.
- Prison Break. Two teams start in separate cells and have to coordinate through the wall to get out, which makes it the best pick for a group that wants a competitive edge.
- Gold Rush. A mine themed build that leans into physical props and tight spaces rather than paper puzzles.
- Timeliner: Train Through Time. The most set driven of the lineup, with the room itself changing around you as the story advances.
- Cosmic Crisis, The Depths, and Classified. The sci-fi, deep sea, and espionage entries round out the roster and sit at the harder end for teams that have already escaped once.
What to Expect
An escape room is a timed booking with a hard start, so the practical details matter more here than at a walk-in attraction. Plan around these.
- Ages 13 and up is the recommendation. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and anyone under 18 needs an adult to sign their waiver. Younger kids can technically play but will not carry much of the puzzle load.
- Rooms cap at eight players. Larger parties get split across rooms or across time slots, so book early if you are bringing a big group.
- The clock is 60 minutes and it does not pause. Show up ahead of your slot for the waiver and briefing, or you are playing with less than a full hour.
- Park in the Teaster Lane lot. The venue specifically recommends it over the front lots, which back up badly during peak evenings at The Island.
- Confirm accessibility before you book. Room layouts differ and not all of them accommodate wheelchairs, so contact the location directly about the specific game you want.
- There is always a way out. Rooms are not actually locked and every game has an exit button, which matters if anyone in the group is uneasy about being closed in.
- Dress for movement. Puzzles involve crouching, reaching, and searching low spaces, so comfortable shoes and clothes you can move in beat anything restrictive.
- Book ahead in season. Summer and holiday weekends fill the calendar, and the popular rooms go first.

- 7D Dark Ride Adventure. An interactive shooting ride in the same complex where your score depends on how well you aim at the screen.
- Arcade City. A large arcade floor at The Island, useful for parking the rest of the group while one team plays a room.
- Alcatraz East Crime Museum. A true crime museum on the Parkway with forensic exhibits, a natural follow up for anyone who just spent an hour solving a case.
