Why go: A 500 foot tubing lane that runs year round on a synthetic surface, a suspended alpine flyer that lets you shoot at more than fifty targets while you swing over the hillside, and a coaster where you set your own speed, all covered by one timed wristband.
About Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Funpark
Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Funpark occupies a hillside lot on the north end of the Parkway, and the whole property is built around one idea: get people up a hill quickly and let them come down it several different ways. A Magic Carpet Conveyor handles the climb, so nobody hikes, and the descents are split across a tubing lane and two very different coasters.
The Summer Outdoor Tubing Hill is the anchor. It runs over 500 feet with a 70 foot drop, riders hit speeds above 35 miles per hour, and the surface is engineered so it operates year round rather than only when there is snow on the ground. Tubes can be linked together, so a group can go down as a chain instead of one at a time, and LED lighting keeps the lane open after dark.
The two coasters do different jobs. The Ski Lift Shootout Coaster is billed as North America’s first alpine flyer, a two seat suspended gondola that swings and dips above the park while riders shoot at more than fifty targets and rack up a score. The Avalanche Snow Coaster is rider controlled: pull the handle back to accelerate, push it forward to slow down, so the same track can be a scenic cruise or a full speed run depending on who is holding it.
Beyond the rides, the property fills out with Trigger Town Old West Paintball, an outdoor axe throwing range, a playground for the smallest members of the group, a gift shop, and Sugar Bears Cafe and Creamery for snacks, drinks, and ice cream. Snow tubing, the winter version of the main hill, returns in fall of 2026 and is sold separately from the ride wristband.
Getting to Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Funpark
The park sits at 2155 Parkway on the north end of Pigeon Forge, in the stretch near mile marker 2 across from the Titanic Museum Attraction and a short distance from The Island. Coming in from Sevierville you reach it early, before the Parkway thickens up through the middle of town, which is worth planning around on a summer afternoon. Parking is free and on site, in the lot at the base of the hill, so there is no shuttle and no walk in from an overflow lot. The rides themselves run up the slope behind the frontage, which is why the property is not obvious from the road even though the entrance is directly on the Parkway.
Why Choose Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Funpark
Pigeon Forge has mountain coasters scattered up and down the Parkway and a handful of tubing operations, but almost all of them do one thing. This property stacks several onto a single hillside, which changes the math for a group.
- Tubing that does not wait for winter. The main hill runs on a synthetic surface year round, so a July visit gets the same 70 foot drop a January one does.
- An alpine flyer you cannot ride elsewhere on the continent. The Ski Lift Shootout is the first ride of its kind in North America, and the target shooting layer turns a scenic glide into something with a score attached.
- Two coasters with opposite personalities. One is a suspended swinging flyer, the other is a rider controlled speed run, so a group that splits between thrill seekers and cautious riders is covered by the same stop.
- Timed unlimited wristbands. One hour and two hour bands cover repeat rides, which suits a family that wants to lap the tubing hill rather than pay per trip.
- Rides that run after dark. LED lighting keeps the hill open at night and the park stays open until 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, later than most attractions in town.
- Activities that are not rides. Axe throwing, paintball style target shooting, and a playground give the group members who are not tubing something to do besides wait at the bottom.
Must Do
The wristband covers most of the property, so the real question is what order to hit things in. These are the pieces worth building the visit around.
- Summer Outdoor Tubing Hill. Over 500 feet, a 70 foot drop, and speeds past 35 miles per hour, with a conveyor carrying you back to the top. Link tubes together and the whole group goes down as one train.
- Ski Lift Shootout Coaster. A two seat suspended flyer with more than fifty targets along the route. Scores are posted at the end, which is what turns most people into repeat riders.
- Avalanche Snow Coaster. The rider controlled run. Pull back to open it up, push forward to slow, with Smokies views by day and the Pigeon Forge lights spread out below at night.
- Trigger Town Old West Paintball. A target shooting gallery dressed as a frontier street, playable by children as young as three when an adult is alongside.
- Outdoor Axe Throwing. Open air lanes with coaching, and one of the few activities here that rewards patience over nerve.
- Sugar Bears Cafe and Creamery. Snacks, cold drinks, and ice cream at the base of the hill, which is where most groups end up regrouping anyway.
What to Expect
This is an outdoor park with real physical requirements on every ride, so a few minutes of planning saves a disappointed child at the loading gate.
- Height and weight rules differ by ride. The tubing hill and the Ski Lift Shootout both need 40 inches to ride with an adult and 47 inches to ride alone. The Avalanche Snow Coaster needs 40 inches with an adult and 51 inches alone, and Trigger Town needs 54 inches to go solo. Weight caps run 325 pounds on a tube, 350 pounds per coaster gondola, and 440 pounds per Avalanche cart.
- Age minimums apply to the non-ride activities. Axe throwing starts at 10 years old, the playground at 2 years old with a parent present, and Trigger Town at 3 years old with an adult.
- Everyone signs a waiver and wears a wristband. That includes the playground, so budget a few minutes at the ticket window before anyone gets moving.
- The wristband clock is real. One and two hour bands start when they are activated, not when you finish your first ride, so head to the busiest attraction first on a crowded afternoon.
- Snow tubing is a separate season and a separate ticket. The winter hill returns in fall of 2026 and is not included on the unlimited ride wristband.
- Weather runs the day. Everything here is outdoors and on a slope, so storms pause operations and a wet forecast is worth checking before you drive over.
- Dress for the hill. Closed shoes and clothes you can climb in and out of a tube in beat sandals and anything loose.
- Call ahead about mobility needs. Every attraction has physical entry and exit requirements, including getting out of a tube unassisted, so confirm with the park before planning around a specific ride.
