Why go: Four attractions sit under one roof on the Parkway, including a go-kart track that climbs fifty feet in the air before dropping you down a forty foot hill, and the doors stay open until at least 11:00 PM every night.
About LazerPort Fun Center
LazerPort Fun Center is a four attraction family entertainment complex on the Parkway near Traffic Light #4, built around laser tag, go-karts, blacklight mini golf, and a large redemption arcade. Most of it is indoors, which is why it fills up on rainy afternoons and stays busy well after the outdoor attractions in town have shut down for the night.
The laser tag operation is the headline. Two arenas of roughly 7,000 square feet each make it the largest laser tag facility in the Smokies area, and games run in eight minute sessions so the line moves quickly even on a busy evening. The elevated go-kart track is the outdoor counterweight, a multi level course standing fifty feet at its highest point with spirals that drop, twist, and turn before plunging down a forty foot hill.
Indoors you will also find an 18 hole blacklight mini golf course and a 10,000 square foot arcade running about 90 games, with a redemption counter that trades tickets for everything from stuffed animals to smart watches. The park is owned by Five Star Parks & Attractions, which also runs SpeedZone Fun Park and Xtreme Racing Center in Pigeon Forge, and a single Park Hopper pass moves you between all three.
Getting to LazerPort Fun Center
LazerPort sits directly on the Parkway near Traffic Light #4, in the dense stretch of attractions between the Old Mill area and the north end of town. Coming from Sevierville you will pass it on your right after Traffic Light #3; coming from Gatlinburg it is on your left. Parking is free and on site, which is worth something on a stretch of road where that is not a given. The Parkway backs up badly on summer evenings and during peak leaf season, so allow extra time if you are booked into a party room or arriving with a group.
Why Choose LazerPort Fun Center
Pigeon Forge has no shortage of go-kart tracks and no shortage of arcades, so the question is what this one does that the others do not. The answer is mostly scale and stacking: the laser tag arenas are the biggest in the area, the kart track is the tallest in town, and you can do all four attractions without moving your car.
- The largest laser tag arenas in the Smokies. Two arenas of roughly 7,000 square feet each, which means bigger games, more places to hide, and shorter waits between sessions than the single arena setups elsewhere in town.
- The tallest go-kart track in Pigeon Forge. Fifty feet at its peak, with a forty foot descent built into the layout rather than a flat oval with a bank or two.
- Weather does not end the visit. Three of the four attractions are indoors, so a thunderstorm costs you the karts and nothing else.
- One pass, three parks. Park Hopper passes are honored at SpeedZone Fun Park and Xtreme Racing Center as well, which is unusual in a town where most operators sell only their own gate.
- Late closing every night. The park runs to 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday, well past when most family attractions in Pigeon Forge lock up.
Must Do
If you are buying single attractions rather than a pass, these are the ones worth your money, roughly in the order most visitors rank them.
- Laser Tag. Eight minute games across two large arenas, with enough vertical structure and cover that adults take it as seriously as the kids do.
- The Elevated Go-Kart Track. The signature ride and the reason most people pull in off the Parkway. Take the outside line on the spiral and let the drop do the work.
- Blacklight Mini Golf. Eighteen holes lit entirely under blacklight, indoors and air conditioned. It carries no age or height requirement, which makes it the one attraction the whole group can play together.
- The Arcade. Around 90 games across 10,000 square feet, with a redemption counter at the back. Budget more time here than you think you need, because this is where the last hour of the evening tends to disappear.
What to Expect
Most groups spend one to two hours here, longer if the arcade takes hold. A few practical things are worth knowing before you walk up to the counter.
- Height and age rules vary by kart. The park’s attractions page lists a 56 inch minimum for solo drivers while its FAQ lists 54 inches, so confirm at the counter before you promise a ride to a borderline kid. Double karts require the driver to be at least 16 years old and 54 inches, with passengers at least 3 years old and 36 inches.
- Laser tag has its own minimum. Players must be at least 46 inches, and anyone shorter needs an adult with them. Mini golf carries no age or height requirement at all.
- Closed-toe shoes are required for the karts. Flip flops and sandals will get you turned away at the gate, which is an easy mistake to make in July.
- Rain closes the track, temporarily. The karts shut down when it starts raining and reopen once the surface dries, so a passing shower means a detour to the arcade rather than a lost evening.
- Arcade play runs on a card, not tokens. Cards carry a one time activation fee on top of whatever you load, and larger loads come with bonus credit, so buying one card for the group beats buying four small ones.
- Parking is free. On site and included, with no validation to worry about.
- Groups and parties need a phone call. Walk-ins are first come, first served, but parties of eight or more should call ahead, and online booking requires at least 24 hours notice. Same day bookings have to be made by phone.
- Accessibility is not published. The park’s own accessibility page is a placeholder with no facility information, so call before you go if anyone in your group needs specific accommodations.
