Maggie Valley Outdoor Adventure

Maggie Valley, North Carolina is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. We already mentioned that it is the motorcycle hub of the Smokies, featuring hundreds of miles to ride in the mountains. What you may not know is that Maggie Valley is a great place to snow ski.

Cataloochee Ski Area encourages skiers of all skill levels to use their facilities. Several “green” slopes accommodate beginners, while the “blue” slopes are for those desiring a bit more excitement. For the experts, “black” slopes provide suitable challenges.

The weather is unpredictable in Maggie Valley, so check the weather to see if conditions are suitable for skiing. Cataloochee uses snow making machines to produce snow when the weather is cold enough.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is arguably the most scenic and beautiful drive in North America. The southern entrance to the parkway is located in Cherokee, North Carolina, although you may enter just south of Maggie Valley. Enjoy nearly 500 miles at your own pace and see American history along the way. (Blue Ridge Parkway Map)

If hiking is more your speed, take advantage of the hundreds of miles of trails in the region. Bring along your fishing rod and fishing license to try your luck at catching a variety of fish. Guides are available to help you find the right spot and choose the best lures.

Golf is a popular sport just about everywhere, and Maggie Valley is no exception. Bring your clubs, or rent a set, and enjoy a round or two on the courses at the local club and resort.
