Soaky Mountain Waterpark Opening in Sevierville

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Summer has arrived and the sun is heating things up around Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Around here we love everything the outdoors has to offer; like hiking, canoeing, golfing, zip lines, horseback riding, and a host of other fun activities.

But when the weather gets too hot, there is nothing like cooling off and having fun in the water. Fortunately for us, on June 27th, Soaky Mountain Waterpark will open to the public.

This brand new $90 million waterpark is located just off Winnfield Dunn Parkway in Sevierville. The waterpark covers 50 acres of prime mountain real estate, making it the largest waterpark in Tennessee.

Speaking of large, the massive 35,000 square foot wave pool is capable of creating 6 foot waves for guests to ride. But the wave pool is just the beginning. In total, nineteen water rides adorn the side of the mountain.

The designers of Soaky Mountain Waterpark created rides for every member of the family. Thrill seekers can choose from any of six exhilarating thrill rides, including the first-of-its-kind watercoaster, the Avalaunch.

Like its name implies, this two-person tube ride launches you on an adventure over “uphill blast zones, valleys, and saucer turns before you hit a heart-pumping wall climb and then descend into a whitewater of a finish.”

Also on the thrill rides list is Blue Mountain Mayhem, a five-person raft ride featuring “two massive, gravity challenging walls” that will “take your breath away.” From what we can see, you will have plenty of opportunity for excitement on these rides.

The family rides include the wave pool, a five person raft ride, water slides, tube slides, double tube slides, enclosed tube slides, and more. The Black Bear Rapids is a 24,000 square foot lazy river that is not so lazy. It has wave action and rapids to make it more interesting.

Children have options too. The Hive, Boomers Bay, Mini Mayhem, and Lil Rattlers will keep them happy all day long. And when they get hungry, the on-site food trucks and candy shop are sure to be their go-to destinations.

For the adults, there is a café, a bistro, and a bar serving adult beverages. For dessert don’t forget to visit the Soaky Shake Shoppe.

The owners anticipate more than 400,000 guests will visit Soaky Mountain Waterpark each year. That sounds like a lot of fun to us.
