BRYSON CITY, NC – Spring is almost here. That means it’s time to start thinking about the annual Smoky Mountain Overnight Relay in North Carolina.
Beginning at Pink Beds State Park in Brevard, with a finish line at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, runners in this relay will face a challenging 206 mile course through the mountains.
Offsetting the challenge is the inspiring beauty of the course. One couldn’t choose a more awe inspiring place to run and enjoy God’s creation. Encompassing 25 miles of off-road trails, a stint through the Pisgah National Forest, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this race is sure to please.
Teams consist of twelve persons. If you consider yourself an “ultra runner” you may run on a six person team. Keep in mind that on the larger team each participant will run about 18 miles, double that of the small team.
Organizers are preparing for a great race and a sweet finish line celebration. Runners will be provided hot showers, drinks, good food, and a generous amount of mountain music.
